3:30 am is very early to be awake. 4:00 is better, just ask Megan. She overslept.
The simple task of Food distribution can be made complicated. Next time we are ordering Kosher. For our entertainment.
Sitting by the toilet IS terrible. Some might call it poopy.
Having a seat mate with sleep apnea is terrifying. We all thought he was going to die. Sleep apnea is one thing but putting your arm on Megan’s armrest is riskier. When he put his arm on Megan’s armrest she said “He might die. Today. He took my armrest….Seems likely.”
Connecting two sets of AirPods to one iPad feels fancy. It allows for two people to binge watch Ted Lasso at the same time. We made a more wholesome choice than the older lady in front of us who watched all four John Wick movies in a row. Very violent. She scared me, but not as much as the even older lady watching all the Magic Mike movies one row up. People please! There are children on this plane and they don’t sleep.
Landing at 7 pm in Singapore is genius. After 16 hours on the last flight, with minimal napping, the transition to the new time zone is not too bad. Singapore is 14 hours ahead of Seattle. Welcome to tomorrow!
We did not do Singapore in the same vein as the Crazy Rich Asians movie. We slept in a box. A box with no view. Thankfully we get along. So far.
Being from Seattle we do not use umbrellas as a rule. They are for the weak. We are weak in Singapore. Umbrella is necessary. Even the dogs sport rain gear.

Megan does not recommend waking up at 3 am while sharing a bed with your snoring mother. And yes, she said the snoring was “cute”. I agree, super cute. That said, she did do a lot of research and planning for our day. Her not sleeping worked out well for me.
Açaí bowls are the bomb all around the world. We recommend them from Kirkland to Portugal to Buenos Aires to Singapore. A delicious way to start the day. Has us dreaming of getting the Ninja Creami.

When debating Muumuu vs no Muumuu, embrace the Muumuu! Take your shoes off, don the shapeless shift and explore the mosque. When in doubt, watch the other tourists for a few minutes and do what they do.
When given the choice of high bridge or low bridge in 90 degree weather with 88% humidity, go low. Next time we will go low. Or get a car. Sigh.

It is easy to decide to skip the garden dome at Garden’s by the Bay when it is closed for monthly maintenance. We skipped the Cloud Forest because we just didn’t want to go to it. It did look cool but we were tired. Long walk over a high bridge. We opted for a long car ride in an air conditioned Grab Car to the Old Airport Road Food Centre. SO. MUCH. FOOD.

We did one loop around the 150 stalls and avoided everything labeled fish head, liver, intestines, or fried lard. We might’ve eaten them but it wasn’t obvious, what you don’t know won’t kill ya. They were chopped tiny.

Our hunger chose for us and we got the seafood noodle dish from Hawker stall #99. Delicious! Up next was juice. Fresh sugar cane juice, meh. Lime juice was amazing, would repeat. And we did.

Round 2 was the Michelin award winning black beef noodles. Looked like dog food, but it was the best noodle we have ever tasted.

Trust us, they were delicious, would recommend.
To walk off all the noodles, we headed to the Botanical Gardens. Two best things about the Botanical Gardens: 1) Free. 2) Water monitor near the stage.

From Amy: Today was Megan’s 22nd Birthday. Hard to believe she has been around for this long! 22 years ago, I never could have imagined celebrating with her first 22 years in Singapore. She is a gift and I adore her. It is such a pleasure to have this time with her. The only thing that would make it better would be having Will and Emily with us. Will is home watching the homestead and Emily is at the Pilchuck School of Glass! My kids are pretty amazing and they do amazing things. Can’t wait to see what they do next.
We celebrated Megan’s birthday with the most amazing Moroccan meal. The owner said “you are full after just salads?!”. Ummm, yeah. There were six of them! We did find room for dessert and tea. The tea was described as mint with “more sugar than your mom would allow”. This mom allowed and enjoyed.
We ended the day by heading back to our box for some much needed sleep.
